Welcome to our home in Italy. It's a former village school built in 1920. It was in use up to the 70's as a primary school in Castelletto, a part of the small town Monforte D'Alba. Downstairs all the children of different ages from the area received lessons in one classroom. The two rooms upstairs were for the teacher.
We completely renovated the building in 2004 preserving as many old elements as we could. It is located in beautifull surroundings in the middle of top vineyards in the heart of the famous Barolo wine region.
There are a lot of possibility's here to spend your holiday. You can walk or cycle straight into nature from our house. Or you can use the signed walking routes.
The Langhe region is known for its culinary delights. There are some great dining options within walking distance.
Almost daily there is a regular market with fruit and vegetables, cheese, fish, clothing and ironwere not to far away.
On Sunday there often is a free accessible open air flea or antiques market in the streets of one of the towns at an easy driving distance.
A daytrip to Torino or Cuneo or Mondovi' (shopping, museums, etc) is a good idea. The mediterranean sea is just over an hour away or you could be at the foot of the Alps for mountain tracking. In the winter you can go skiing in the small but excellent ski resorts.
Close by is the open air swimmingpool (open in the summer) in Monforte.
There is a 18 hole golfcourse in Cherasco.
Ofcourse it is also an ideal base for wine tourism. On request, we are willing to mediate for you.
We would love to rent you our nice small home for your vacation or stay in Italy.
